    If you're referring to the cabs in the upper portion of the photo, they look like 846A's (Valencia's), but the bases say (not literally) A7-500W's, with less than ideal photo depth perception. Note Altec logo's on bottom right of each.

    Recording dtudios started in early 1920's with the advent of sound on film. The scoring stage an adaptation of a movie sound stage were the first to actually put down the standars of what orchestral recording should sound like.

    Here is a video of Eastwood scoring stage performing . The quality would be even greater if it were not for digital compressing not to be confused with dynamic range compression.

    LOL! Boom-boom! Boom-boom! Bass drum players are getting a lot of work these days.
    Every movie trailer these days is nothing but Bang, boom! Boom, bang! More bass drum! Slam!

    Too bad they never even show the percussion section in the video.

    In this sequence at 1 minute 4 seconds you will see the drummer in a drum booth ,tympanies are on a ochestra riser with protective glass , electric guitar player behind acoustic panel. This is how we record music.

    How about Europe They must have scoring stages. One of the most famous besides Abbey road and Air studios is TELDEX STUDIOS in Berlin .
